F1 has been rocked by a number of off-track controversies over recent months, including the ongoing Red Bull saga and a probe into accusations of alleged race interference by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, which resulted in the FIA president being cleared by the governing body’s ethics committee. 🏁🔍

Amid all the rumors, Aston Martin finally confirmed the signing of Enrico Cardile from Scuderia Ferrari. Cardile is all set to take over as the team’s Chief Technical Officer in 2025.

Cardile made headlines in the last couple of weeks regarding his rumored switch from the Scarlet Ferrari outfit to the Racing Green squad. However, paddock chatters and numerous renowned figures snubbed the rumors earlier.

On Tuesday, quashing all rumors, Lawrence Stroll’s team announced him via their official website. Enrico Cardile was the former Technical Director of Chassis and Aerodynamics at Ferrari and has a wealth of experience in the tech sector.

“I’m looking forward to joining Aston Martin Aramco. The ambition and desire are clear and it is a unique opportunity to be part of that journey,” Cardile said. “This is a personal and professional challenge and I look forward to working with the team to bring success to this iconic brand.”
Cardile’s signing is a big boost for Mike Krack’s team as they were seemingly on the back foot to sign celebrated aerodynamicist Adrian Newey. As per reports, Newey was uninterested in joining the Silverstone-based team.

The British team are currently in P5 in the Constructors’ Championship. As compared to their form in 2023, where Alonso claimed three back-to-back podiums in the first three races, their performances this season have been underwhelming.

Cardile’s addition would surely strengthen their technical leadership team and help them fight with the likes of McLarens, Ferraris, and Mercedes.

Lawrence Stroll, the Executive Chairman of the group, shared his delight in securing the services of Enrico Cardile, just a year ahead of the 2026 regulations. On his appointment, Stroll said,

“I would like to welcome Enrico to Aston Martin Aramco as we look to reinforce the technical leadership team ahead of significant regulation changes in 2026. I am thrilled that we continue to attract world-class talent to our team.”
Mike Krack, the team principal, stated,

“I am delighted to welcome Enrico to Aston Martin Aramco. Enrico has nearly 20 years of experience at Ferrari and will offer a fresh perspective to our technical strategy.”
Additionally, Andy Cowell, the former Mercedes Power Unit chief, is also set to join the group as the Chief Executive Officer in October this year. It will be interesting to see if the ramped-up technical department will help Aston Martin claim the ultimate F1 glory in the upcoming days.
