The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired experienced quarterback Russell Wilson on a one-year contract this offseason, hoping he would recapture the form that made him a star with the Seattle Seahawks.
Yet, Wilson’s initial outing against the Buffalo Bills this Saturday suggests he might still be struggling as he did during his previous two seasons with the Denver Broncos, a concerning sign for the Steelers.
In his first preseason game with Pittsburgh, Wilson led five drives against Buffalo, none of which resulted in points. He completed 8 of 10 passes for a mere 47 yards and was sacked three times by a dominant Bills defense. The Steelers went on to lose the game 9-3.
Among the setbacks for Pittsburgh was a particularly dispiriting sack taken by Wilson, which showcased troubles across the Steelers’ offensive line. Onlookers and fans voiced their frustration following Wilson’s performance.
