Martin Brundle thinks Lewis Hamilton will ‘want to take a few people with him’ when he moves to Ferrari.

The Briton revealed earlier this month that he’d be ditching Mercedes as he looks to win a record eighth F1 Drivers’ Championship.

Hamilton feels his chances of success are better with the Scuderia, having failed to win a race over the past two years.

All eyes are currently on the Stevenage-born racer as the new season creeps closer.

The first race of the season takes place in Bahrain on March 2, with Hamilton insisting he’s committed to Mercedes despite his exit approaching.

And Brundle thinks the 39-year-old will try and take a few people ‘with him’ when he links up with Ferrari in 2025.

“Processes, philosophies, how the car works, what he likes, where he likes to sit and what he needs from a car to maximise his talents,” Brundle explained on the Sky F1 podcast.

“And then he’s got to integrate.

“And it’s hard, because I don’t think he’ll speak the language, he certainly won’t speak the language and know the team like Charles Leclerc does.

Brundle also feels Hamilton must emulate Michael Schumacher by ’embedding himself’ in Ferrari.

Schumacher threw himself into life in Italy, with the F1 icon proceeding to establish himself as one of the best drivers in the sport’s entire history.

And Brundle added: “I think it’s still the case.

“How could this go for Lewis? You could do a Michael Schumacher and turn them into champions again.

“Or he could do a Fernando Alonso and a Sebastian Vettel where it’s kind of a bit of a near miss, but look pretty good on occasions.

“And just look at what Schumacher did, the Schumacher piazza we’ve been in and filmed, where Schumacher had his gym, where he stayed overnight when he was always embedded in Fiorano, in the factory like Leclerc and Sainz have done.

“I think if Lewis really wants to get a fast start in what’s a completely different team to the seven British-based teams, over there in Italy, I think he’ll have to go and embed himself in it.”

Meanwhile, Red Bull star Sergio Perez has also opened up on Hamilton.

And he’s expressed a belief that ‘jealousy’ could arise within Ferrari once the Briton arrives.

“Interesting, but more than that, I think the dynamics, it’s going to be interesting to watch from the outside,” Perez said at Red Bull’s 2024 launch last week.

“Having a driver that is moving teams, we all know how jealous the teams are on sharing information.

“Because, obviously, Lewis has been there [at Mercedes] for many years, and he will be taking a lot of knowledge to another team.

“So again, there will be some interesting dynamics to watch from the outside.”

Hamilton has won 103 races throughout his career, with no driver managing more.

And whether he can return to winning ways in Bahrain at the start of next month remains to be seen.
