Lewis Hamilton claims painful ‘learnings of past two years’ have enabled Mercedes to find its ‘north star’

Lewis Hamilton will enter his final campaign with the Mercedes F1 team this year.

Lewis Hamilton, the soon-to-be Ferrari F1 driver, has talked up Mercedes’s chances ahead of the 2024 F1 season. The team has so far struggled under the current set of regulations but seeing the progress in the factories, Hamilton has admitted that his team has finally found its ‘north star.’

Last year’s W14 was a very difficult machinery to deal with, it was extremely unpredictable and both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell complained about it on several occasions. The duo was never really able to feel comfortable in the car for more than two or three races.

However, with the work that the Brackley-based team has put in during the winter break, Lewis Hamilton is confident about his team’s chances. While talking about the same, he recently said, as reported by Silverarrows.net:

The learnings of the past two years have helped us find our direction, it’s enabled us to find our north star. It’s still going to be a work in progress, but we will face whatever challenges present themselves with our heads up, with open minds, and work through them diligently.
Looking at the reaction of the former seven-time world champion, it is quite clear that he has huge expectations of Mercedes’s 2024 car, the W15. Moreover, has taken the time to acknowledge the work that has been put in by the personnel on the German team regarding the development of the challenger.

Would Lewis Hamilton be able to challenge for the 2024 World Championship?
While Lewis Hamilton has left no stone unturned in talking up the chances of the Mercedes F1 team this year, one has to wonder how potent their car would eventually prove to be in comparison to the Ferrari’s and the mighty Red Bulls.

The Max Verstappen-led Red Bull F1 team won an impressive 21 out of the 22 races last year. The outfit operated in a league of its own and thus, proved too hot to handle for the other nine teams. Mercedes, despite its best efforts, was only able to clinch second place with 409 points.

Red Bull put on board a mighty 860 points in the Constructors Championship. Keeping in view everything that has been discussed above, it is going to be fascinating to see whether Lewis Hamilton will be seen locking horns with Verstappen and Co. regularly this year or not.
