After Heritage Visit to Benin, Lewis Hamilton Kicks Off Second Leg of African Tour in Mozambique

Continuing his quest to explore Africa, Lewis Hamilton has jumped from one destination to another. For instance, he was a royal guest in Benin before hopping onto a helicopter to explore South African regions. The F1 ace is breathing in the air of his ancestral roots. Perhaps he is drawing inspiration for his next project, or he’s simply soaking in the African culture and vibrancy to energize himself for the second phase of the season.

Recently, Hamilton traced back to the land of his forefathers in Benin, a West African country. The Royal Family of Abomey, aka, the bloodline of the Dahomey Kingdom welcomed him. Lewis Hamilton has completed his trip to the birthplace of the Vodun religion, and he was recently spotted on Bazaruto Island, Mozambique. In a sporty outfit, the Mercedes star got off the helicopter.

Earlier in July, Hamilton said he would be visiting Mozambique during the summer break. Kim Jones, Dior Men’s artistic director, was supposed to join him on the trip. Though no one has seen the designer, people speculate he is accompanying Lewis Hamilton on this cultural journey across Africa. However, the way the 7x champ always keeps going back to his roots is special. This shows his love for the culture that the region has to offer to the world.

Lewis Hamilton’s African odyssey: Exploring his roots and more

By now, we all know how deeply connected the F1 legend is to his inheritance. It feels like an invisible thread keeps pulling Lewis Hamilton to the African soil. Moreover, his love for the country’s culture inspires him to put out his character more and more. Previously, Hamilton visited the country with his best friend Miles Chamley-Watson. The creativity and art enthralled him and inspired his ski-wear collaboration with Dior. Moreover, Africa inspired Hamilton’s bold fashion. The colors he adorns himself with are an impression of the Land of Sahara.

Most importantly, Hamilton’s frequent visits could pave the way for a Grand Prix race in the country. Currently, F1 President, Stefano Domenicali is in conversation for a circuit in Rwanda. According to Motorsport magazine, Rwanda Automobil Club’s president Christian Gakwaya said: “It’s time for Africa to be part of the F1 calendar. Rwanda as a country, we are committed and prepared to host a Formula 1 race. We are working within the formal F1 framework and we are serious about our bid.” This is surely going to be a boost to Hamilton’s African GP hopes, and what could be better than a race on all seven continents?

While Hamilton is enjoying his summer break, F1’s campaign continues off the track. The lights on the Rwanda GP shine brighter than ever. This could open so many new possibilities and job opportunities for the natives. Consequently, Hamilton and Max Verstappen‘s desire to race in Africa would also turn into reality. Wouldn’t that be great? What’s your take? Share below.
