Dallas Cowboys Name New Starter For Upcoming NFL Season Opener

The Dallas Cowboys are setting the stage for a new era at center by promoting rookie Cooper Beebe to the starting lineup for the upcoming 2024 NFL season. Indications of this move surfaced when Beebe was notably absent from the team’s final preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers—a typical sign that a player is being preserved for regular-season action.

Reports from within the organization and hints on social media, including tweets from sports journalists Todd Archer and Glenn Kinley, confirmed that Beebe will indeed anchor the line when the Cowboys face off against the Cleveland Browns in their season opener on September 8. Joining him in the promotion to the starting roster is fellow rookie Tyler Guyton, suggesting a youthful but promising front line for Dallas.

Beebe, who was selected 73rd overall in the 2023 NFL Draft from Kansas State, drew attention not only for his physical prowess but also for his versatility. Although his college career saw him play every position on the offensive line except center, Beebe adapted quickly to his new role throughout the offseason. His performance evidently surpassed that of competitor Brock Hoffman, who started the preseason as the leading candidate for center but was soon overtaken by Beebe for first-team reps in practice.

At Kansas State, Beebe’s illustrious career included three consecutive First-Team All-Big 12 selections from 2021 to 2023, two Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year awards in 2022 and 2023, and a unanimous All-American honor in his final college season. This strong foundation not only made him a desirable draft pick but has also smoothed his transition to the professional level.

Beebe himself seems confident in his new role, expressing comfort with his snapping duties and focusing on the broader aspects of gameplay. As the Cowboys prepare to contend in a highly competitive NFC East, all eyes will be on Beebe to see if his collegiate success translates to maintaining the high standards of NFL play, particularly in such a crucial position.
