Enzo Ferrari’s son SNUBS $430 million signing Lewis Hamilton and picks non-F1 champion as his favorite driver

Lewis Hamilton is statistically the most successful F1 driver in history. However, Piero Ferrari did not pick the seven-time world champion as his favorite despite the Briton’s 2025 arrival to Maranello.

Enzo Ferrari’s son SNUBS $430 million signing Lewis Hamilton and picks non-F1 champion as his favorite driver

Lewis Hamilton will join Scuderia Ferrari in 2025 to partner Charles Leclerc. The Italian team will be preparing to facilitate the seven-time world champion next year. Now, Late Enzo Ferrari‘s son Piero Ferrari shared his opinion that his favorite driver wasn’t Lewis Hamilton despite boasting one of the best careers in the history of Formula 1.

Piero Ferrari revealed that his favorite driver was Charles Leclerc who had been racing for Maranello since 2019.

Additionally, the 78-year-old recalled the fact that the Monegasque had recently renewed his contract with the team and would drive for Ferrari for multiple years. Surprisingly, Piero decided to snub Lewis Hamilton from his favorites despite the 39-year-old joining Ferrari the next year.

My favorite driver is Charles [Leclerc]. He has just renewed…

Piero Ferrari told TG2 news (H&T: @candeleclerc16/X).

The Italian businessman overlooked the fact that Lewis Hamilton had seven championships under his belt over Leclerc’s tally of zero titles. Additionally, the Briton outshined the Monegasque in terms of points in the previous season. Hence it was surprising to hear Piero Ferrari’s claim that Charles Leclerc would be Ferrari’s new world champion sooner with Hamilton joining the team next season. The seven-time world champion was given a massive $430 million contract from the Scuderia.

He will be our world champion.
Lewis Hamilton convinced he cannot win the 2024 World Championship against Max Verstappen
Mercedes was looking hopeful of great results in the 2024 season and was optimistic about the performance of the W15 challenger this season. However, the testing session revealed that Red Bull had once again successfully developed a dominant challenger and would likely score the championship alongside Max Verstappen down the season. Lewis Hamilton was not hesitant in accepting the fact that the W15 wasn’t capable of fighting with the dominant RB20 of this season.

Hamilton put forth the fact that the car was stiff and bumpy and would probably not be the fastest on the grid. However, the seven-time world champion applauded Brackley’s attempt at improving the challenger from the previous year. However, it seems that the Briton would be unable to emerge victorious over the Dutchman in his final campaign with Mercedes.

Regardless, the team will try to push their limits and maximize results to help the 39-year-old bid a proper farewell to the team. Hamilton will work alongside his race engineer Peter ‘Bono’ Bonnington perhaps for the last time as he would then be greeted by a new set of engineers at Maranello.
