The seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, is a man of principles. There is a reason why Hamilton has amassed a brilliant 103 wins and 104 pole positions. Besides his exceptional performance and hard work, his dedication to the sport has played a key role in his immense success.
Lewis Hamilton has excellent skills while managing everything all at once. Esteban Ocon was once a Mercedes reserve driver and was spellbound by the Brit’s ability to quickly switch from one role to the other.
Hamilton’s ability to switch between things left the Frenchman astonished.
Lewis is a very busy man aside from racing. That’s a difference compared to some drivers who are more focused on the racetrack. Seeing how he switched his focus from one thing to another… That kind of amazed me.

Most of the drivers after getting off the race track, would prefer to take a bit of rest before heading into the debrief, but Hamilton is different. According to Ocon, Hamilton always has his notepad on him to take all the important notes. The 27-year-old learned this from the seven-time world champion and thus, tries to follow in his footsteps.
Esteban Ocon has some bittersweet memories from his past, which he recently opened up about. He and Max Verstappen have known each other since their days in Karting. Ocon has always enjoyed their rivalry until Verstappen got promoted to F1 before him.
During the 2014 European F3 Championship, Verstappen had finished third while Ocon had finished first, yet the former was promoted to F1, and due to this, Ocon’s racing career was up in the air.
But from Max not winning the title, finishing third and then going into F1 and me not having even an option to continue racing, that was tough to swallow, for sure, and I was very pissed off in those times. That was very, very difficult because, to me, it was not fair.

During the transition from 2014 to 2015, the 27-year-old barely had any options in front of him and was reconsidering his racing future. In those difficult times, he contacted Toto Wolff and Fred Vassuer, both of them helped him with a solution and Ocon eventually made his F1 debut in 2016. Today he has become a well-established F1 driver and has also amassed a Grand Prix win.
