Fisichella commented:

“There will be more pressure because Ferrari is a dream for a lot of drivers, not just Italian drivers.

“For example Michael Schumacher, Nikki Lauda, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso are just a few.

“For Hamilton, a guy with a lot of experience, he doesn’t care about the pressure, especially at this stage of his career. He just needs a good car to show his talent.”

Mercedes’ confirmation of Hamilton’s departure post-2024 has ended widespread speculation about his future. The switch to Ferrari, fuelled by rumours and subsequent confirmation, is a testament to Hamilton’s desire for a new challenge, spurred by dissatisfaction with Mercedes’ performance in recent seasons.

Ferrari’s interest in Hamilton has been an open secret since 2019, and with Red Bull’s dominance, his addition to Ferrari could significantly alter the competitive landscape. For Mercedes, this departure closes an 11-year chapter of remarkable achievements, including Hamilton’s latest world title in 2020.
