Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was named the number one player in the NFL’s Top 100 for 2024, an honor determined by player votes over the past 14 years.
“I’m going to faint. I once told Tom Brady, number one belongs to me. This is the first time I’ve received this award, and I was ranked above the best quarterbacks. I’m just thinking about that right now. This is real,” Hill said, holding the trophy shaped like a number one.
Nearly 1,700 active NFL players vote to select the top 100 players from the league’s 32 teams.
“There’s no one better. His teammates have voted Tyreek Hill as the best player in the NFL, congratulations,” the Miami Dolphins wrote to their star receiver.
Hill, a Super Bowl LIV champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, had his best numbers last year in his eight-year career. He led the league with 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, pushing the Dolphins to an 11-6 season that led them to the playoffs, where they were eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the wildcard round.
The 30-year-old receiver, who played for the Chiefs from 2016 to 2021 and joined Miami in 2022, has been selected to the Pro Bowl eight times and is among the top five highest-paid players at his position in the NFL with an annual salary of $30 million.
Coming in at number two in the Top 100 was Lamar Jackson, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, who was named MVP at the end of the 2023 season. Jackson led the Ravens to the AFC Championship, where they were defeated by the Chiefs.
Christian McCaffrey, running back for the San Francisco 49ers, ranked third in his peers’ votes. McCaffrey had an outstanding season, leading his position with 1,459 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, earning him the title of the league’s Best Offensive Player last year.
Patrick Mahomes, three-time champion quarterback with the Kansas City Chiefs, appeared in fourth place despite winning his third consecutive Super Bowl MVP award last February.
Rounding out the top 10 players in the Top 100 are Myles Garrett, defensive end for the New Orleans Saints; Chris Jones, defensive tackle for the Chiefs; Trent Williams, offensive tackle for the 49ers; T.J. Watt, linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers; Travis Kelce, tight end for the Chiefs; and Maxx Crosby, defensive end for the Las Vegas Raiders.
