Lewis Hamilton says FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has never had his support, and proceeds to praise Susie Wolff for her “criminal complaint” against the FIA.
The FIA has recently launched an investigation into Mohammed Ben Sulayem’s alleged race interference, and accusations that he has been withholding Las Vegas’ circuit certification.
Ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, the governing organization announced Ben Sulayem has been cleared of all charges.
However, the FIA’s problems did not end here, as Susie Wolff just announced that she has filed a “criminal complaint” against the FIA after their short-lived investigation into her and her husband Toto Wolff’s alleged conflict of interest.
Taking all of this into account, Lewis Hamilton was asked if Ben Sulayem still had his backing as the President of the FIA, to which Lewis replied: “He never has.”
As for Susie’s complaint, the Briton said:
“Firstly, I’m incredibly proud of Susie. I think she is so brave, and she stands for such great values.
“She’s such a leader, and in a world where often people are silenced, for her to be standing up sends such a great message.

“I love that she’s taken it out of this [the Formula 1] world, because there is a real lack of accountability here, within this sport, within the FIA, things that are happening behind closed doors, there is no transparency.
“There is really no accountability, and we need that. I think the fans need that. How can you trust the sport and what is happening here if you don’t have that?
“Hopefully this stand that she’s taking now will create change, will have a positive impact, and especially for women.”
Lewis also referenced the recent suspension of a female Red Bull employee, after she accused team boss Christian Horner of inappropriate behaviour.
“It is still a male-dominated sport, and we’re living in a time where the message is: ‘If you file a complaint, you will be fired.’
“And that is a terrible narrative to be projecting to the world, especially when we’re talking about inclusivity here in the sport.
“We need to make sure we stay true to the core values,” Hamilton concluded.
